Selecting Photos for a Slideshow

Digiflix believes selecting the right pictures for a funeral slideshow is a deeply personal and meaningful task. It’s important to choose images that capture the essence of your loved one’s life, evoke cherished memories, and reflect their personality and journey. Here are some considerations to guide you in selecting pictures for a funeral slideshow:

  1. Early Years and Milestones: Include photos from the person’s childhood, significant milestones such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings. These images showcase the foundation of their life and the moments that shaped them.
  2. Family and Relationships: Choose photographs that depict the person with their family, friends, and loved ones. These images capture the connections they cherished and the joy shared with those closest to them.
  3. Hobbies and Interests: Incorporate pictures that showcase the person’s passions and hobbies. Whether it’s playing a musical instrument, engaging in sports, or pursuing artistic endeavors, these images highlight the activities that brought them joy and defined their interests.
  4. Travel and Adventures: If your loved one enjoyed travel, include photographs from their journeys and adventures. These pictures can help celebrate their wanderlust and the memories they created while exploring different places.
  5. Professional Life: If your loved one had a fulfilling career or made significant contributions in their professional life, include photographs that portray their work life. This can involve images from their workplace, with colleagues, or receiving recognition for their achievements.
  6. Candid and Happy Moments: Include candid shots that capture your loved one’s laughter, smiles, and moments of pure joy. These images showcase their vibrant spirit and remind mourners of the happiness they brought into the lives of others.
  7. Sentimental Favorites: Consider including any pictures that hold special meaning or evoke strong emotions for the family and close friends. These may be intimate moments, unique traditions, or inside jokes that reflect the depth of the relationship shared.
  8. Photo Quality: It is best to choose good quality photos that are in focus and good lighting. However sometimes this is not possible… If it’s special, put it in!

Remember, the goal is to create a slideshow that paints a comprehensive and authentic picture of your loved one’s life. It is essential to ensure that the chosen images resonate with the departed’s vision and honours their memory.

Photo formats for Slideshow Preparation

Providing photos to Digiflix for inclusion in a slideshow is best done in its original form. However sometimes this is not possible, the following are some things to remember to get the very best results.

Paper photos: Digiflix professionally scan paper photos at no extra charge. We have high speed photo quality scanners to produce the best results.  It is never a good result if paper photos are photographed or scanned with a mobile phone, this often leaves pictures looking muted in colour, distorted and reflections of the back of the phone.

Digital photos: Digiflix accepts all popular image formats (.jpg .png .tiff .pdf .heic and more) These can be sent to us via our web uploader form or delivered to us on USB.

Slides: No problem, please bring them in with the rest of your photos. We can professionally scan them for inclusion in the slideshow.
